LifeFlight Ground EMS started with a single ambulance in the fall of 2011, and after several expansions now includes a fleet of 21 Advanced Life Support (ALS) equipped ground ambulances operating from four locations in the Middle Tennessee area: Nashville, Wilson County (Lebanon), Coffee County (Tullahoma) and Montgomery County (Clarksville). These ambulances predominantly focus on interfacility transfers and discharges from Vanderbilt affiliated medical facilities, with the ability to also support non-Vanderbilt facilities.

Bases are staffed by Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians, Paramedics, and a local base manager. Additionally, many of our paramedics have a transport ventilator qualification or Critical Care Paramedic licensure.
Our fleet is outfitted with modern equipment that includes:
-
Zoll X-series monitors capable of 12-lead EKGs, EtCO2 monitoring, pacing, and defibrillation.
-
Hamilton T-1 ventilators capable of invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
-
Stryker Power-Pro XT with auto-load system.
-
Mobile electronic patient charting using the ambulance’s wi-fi connection
-
Airvo – High Flow Nasal Cannula delivering up to 60 liters per minute
The ALS ground ambulances provide backup transport for the helicopter on days that inclement weather prohibits flying. In these circumstances, the Flight Crew accompanies the Ground Team during transport.
Patient transport by ground ambulance can be arranged by calling our Transport Coordination Center at 615-322-7433.
